Back when
iOS 4.2 was released, Apple introduced a new feature called
AirPlay. Although limited at the time, AirPlay allowed any video using Apple?s standard media control to beam image and sound over a local Wi-Fi network to an
Apple TV for viewing on the big screen. Later on,
iOS 4.3 brought more functionality to the service by adding support for Apple?s Photo app and various other 3rd party apps. Now with
iOS 5, AirPlay mirroring lets any screen of any app to be displayed on an Apple TV over Wi-Fi including games and yes, even FaceTime.
