Liquid Tuesday: Drinking Events for the 1% | SoCal Spirits | Food ...

After months of freeloading on this wonderful city, the time has finally come for you to pay up. In the past, we've told you about street fairs with craft beer gardens inside, tap takeovers and wine drinking along the Malibu coast. Well, those precious days of just walking up to an event and paying for what you're drinking are over - at least for this week. Between the LA Epicurean Festival, the Wine & Beer Festival in Rancho Palos Verdes and a worldwide wine sipping experience, you're going to be out a few bucks for the right to really experience LA's best drinking events this week. If you need to justify the receipts to your accountant later, just be sure to tell them that it was all worth it.

If you're looking to pace yourself this week, you can at least start out smooth at the Arroyo Wine Lounge in South Pasadena. The beer and wine-drinkin' spot at the Arroyo Whole Foods has put together a night of beer-cicles to help you beat the heat. There's no entry fee for the kids-turned-adults-turned-kids popsicle party, which means you can enjoy the simple pleasure of frozen craft beer without having to break open your piggy bank. But if you're really trying to make your dollars count, consider Around the World in 80 Sips. The wine-focused event will set you back $75, but offers more than eighty wines from both well-known and up-and-coming wineries from across the globe. To get your money's worth, you've got two options: sip, swill, swallow and experience each wine slowly; or dash through the Petersen Automotive Museum with your wine glass, pulling at anything with a cork.

If you're in the mood for the upper crust experience but can't swing the cash, head over to The Getty on Friday night for an evening of Austrian food and drink, as a celebration of a new Gustav Klimt exhibit. No need to buy tickets or win a raffle, just make your reservations here for an arts-inspired meal in the hills overlooking Los Angeles. Or, if you want to live a little higher on the hog but make sure everyone is aware of your status, snag one of the last remaining spots for the Trump National Wine & Beer Fest. The name alone is synonymous with financial excess and haircuts with maintenance bills bigger than most mortgages, so everyone is sure to find you to be endlessly wealthy and charming as you stroll the country club grounds with your wine glass in hand.

Of course, if you're just a dedicated fan of the LA food scene, the $100 per person LA Epicurean Festival might not seem like such a bad idea. Hosted in the gorgeous old St. Vibiana cathedral, the all day event will offer rare tastings from vendors and local chefs, as well as an array of drinks from wine makers, craft distillers and local brewers. If you've got the money to spend, this is definitely the event to spend it at. And, if you're a little light this week, there are plenty of Eastside and Westside outdoor drinking spots that will happily offer you a simple pint.
